Grok (grok.com) Review 2026 – Features, Pricing & Alternatives

grok.com is the standalone web home for xAI's Grok assistant, for people who want to use it without going through X.

What is GROK COM?

The same Grok model served through a normal chat website: a conversation panel, file and image upload, web search and a reasoning mode. It exists so Grok can be used on a laptop without an X account front and centre.

Key Features

• Full-page chat interface with conversation history.
• Image and document upload for questions about your own material.
• Live web search folded into answers.
• A reasoning mode for multi-step problems.
• Shared account and limits with the X app version.

Pricing

Free with limits; higher limits arrive with an X Premium or xAI subscription. Pricing is set by xAI and changes — confirm on grok.com.

Who Should Use it?

• Desktop users who prefer a dedicated tab to a social app.
• People comparing Grok against ChatGPT and Claude side by side.
• Writers and analysts who want current-web answers.
• Anyone who wants Grok without an X timeline in the way.

Pros

• Cleaner than using Grok inside X
• Same live-web advantage
• Handles uploaded files and images
• No separate cost over the X subscription

Cons

• Still needs an xAI or X account
• Free limits are modest
• Fewer integrations than ChatGPT or Copilot

Alternatives

• ChatGPT
• Claude
• Perplexity AI
• Mistral AI

Is it Safe?

Same policy as Grok inside X: conversations may be retained and used to improve the service depending on your settings. Keep confidential documents out of it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is grok.com different from Grok on X? It is the same assistant with a different front door. The web app is easier for long sessions and file uploads.

Do I need X Premium? Not to start. A free tier exists; a subscription raises the limits.

Can I upload documents? Yes, images and documents can be attached and asked about.

Final Verdict

If you like Grok but not the timeline around it, this is the version to use.
