Runway ML Review 2026 – AI Video Generation and Editing

Runway is the AI video tool built for people who actually edit video. Generation is only part of it — the rest is a working editor with rotoscoping, background removal and motion tracking that all run on the model.

What is RUNWAY GEN3?

A browser-based video platform combining text-to-video and image-to-video generation with a set of AI editing tools. It has been used in film and television post-production, which sets it apart from generators that stop at the clip.

Key Features

• Text-to-video and image-to-video generation with motion controls.
• Green-screen removal on any footage, no green screen required.
• Motion tracking and rotoscoping that used to take hours by hand.
• Frame interpolation for smooth slow motion.
• A real timeline editor around all of it.

Pricing

A free tier with limited credits. Paid plans buy more generation, longer clips and higher resolution, billed monthly per seat.

Who Should Use it?

• Video editors adding AI to an existing workflow.
• Content teams producing social video quickly.
• VFX artists needing fast rotoscoping.
• Anyone who needs to edit as well as generate.

Is it Safe?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is Runway free? There is a free tier with limited credits; sustained use needs a paid plan.

Can it replace After Effects? Not fully, but it does rotoscoping and background removal far faster.

What is it best at? The editing tools. Generation is good; the AI-assisted editing is what people stay for.

Final Verdict

The most practical AI video tool if you edit for a living. Pair it with Sora when you need the very best generated shots.
