How to get the slowed + reverb sound
What the style actually is
Slowed and reverb is two edits, not one. The track is slowed to somewhere around 75-85% of its original speed, and a generous reverb is added on top. The slowdown stretches the phrasing out so individual words and drum hits get room to land; the reverb surrounds them with reflections so the whole thing sounds like it is playing in a large, empty space. Neither alone gives the effect — slowing without reverb just sounds slow, and reverb without slowing just sounds distant.
Settings worth starting from
Set the tempo to about 0.80 and listen before touching anything else. Most songs sit well between 0.75 and 0.85. Below 0.70 the drums begin to smear, because a drum hit is a very short event and stretching one has to invent the time in between. Then raise the reverb wet mix until the space opens up but the vocal is still clearly in front — if the words start to blur together, the reverb is too loud rather than too long.
Why the vocal does not turn deep here
On a turntable, slowing a record lowers its pitch as well, which is where the deep slowed-down voice comes from. This tool separates the two: the tempo control changes speed only, so the song runs slower in its original key and the singer still sounds like themselves.
If you want that deeper sound, it is one extra move — lower the pitch control by one or two semitones as well. Doing it this way means you choose how much, instead of having the amount decided for you by how far you slowed the track.
